The F-4 nuclear bunker is one of the most serious of Budapest's large number of underground, secret facilities. Its special feature is its central location, plus a secret track branches off here from the subway.
It was built on the personal instructions of Mátyás Rákosi and fitted into the logic of the dictatorship's Cold War paranoia.
The facility and its history have received little publicity today. This is the first book that provides a description of the underground object built with billions, but fortunately never used, supported by accurate data and illustrated with photographs and historical documents.
The work of Balázs Szabó traces the history of the facility from its design to the present days.
The book is published as one of the Sziklakórház Atomic Bunker Museum's "Authentic History" series and can be recommended to anyone interested in the professional history of the Cold War, Budapest, or secret facilities.
